Albania is one of the fastest growing countries in terms of economy in southeastern Europe. Between 2004 and 2008, the average economic growth was 6%. On November 28, 2012 Albania celebrated its 100th year of independence from the Ottoman Empire, an important event for a proud nation. The center of the capitol, Tirana, was festooned especially sumptuously for the occasion. A gigantic Albanian flag covered the facade of the International Hotel, the highest building in the heart of the city of Tirana.
A landmark for two months.
The flag was manufactured by the Sakuli Sign & Printing and was 1,254 square meters in size. It was the largest Albanian flag ever made in Albania. It was printed on PVC mesh material in multiple strips which were then connected using Leister welders. According to Sakuli, they only considered Leister technology because they wanted to ensure the quality and durability of the welded seams. The overlapping seams were welded with a UNIPLAN E, while TRIAC S hot air hand tools were used for handling the details. Up to 14 employees worked on the printing, welding and assembly work. The installation work on the facade of the hotel itself was completed in just one night. The flag hung for two months over the hotel facade and could be much admired and photographed by passersby as a landmark of the capitol.
Young and successful
Sakuli Sign & Printing was founded in 2004. The company concentrated on the manufacturing of advertising signs and printed interior and exterior advertising with great success. For over eight years the company efficiently served hundreds of national and international customers in Albania. The company›s owner, Bedi Sakuli, remarked about the prestigious flag project: «This job needed to be done in a very short amount of time – which of course is nothing unusual in the advertising branch. We needed a fast and easy-to-operate, portable hot- air welder which could be managed by various employees.» They worked in 12-hour shifts without interruption. Naturally, besides the speed of the welder, the reliability was extremely important as well as the uniform quality of the welded seams. After performing various tests, Mr. Sakuli concluded that only Leister could meet these requirements. «Once the speed, temperature and air volume parameters were properly set, our employees could work the whole day without any problems.» He also emphasized the unusual reliability and durability of the Leister equipment, attributes that are indispensable for his company.
Sales and service partners nearby
The proximity of a Leister sales and service partner here, as everywhere in the world, is an important argument for selecting the equipment. Bedi Sakuli emphasizes how happy he is to have found a trustworthy and reliable partner in Redi›s Printing, which provides effective support. Redi›s Printing has been Lister›s new sales and service partner in Albania and Kosovo since last year. As with all other Leister partners, Redi›s Printing employees have had the benefit of extensive training on all Leister systems.
